What is in a wedding officiant script with a wedding officiant in Montreal?

This is a question I get asked regularly as a wedding officiant in Montreal. Most religious weddings have a fixed script during the ceremony, making allowances only for the vows and any special readings. In a wedding officiated by an officiant in the province of Quebec, the only part of the ceremony that MUST be fixed is the reading of the civil code so the wedding officaint script is flexible.
During the wedding ceremony, there are components that must be present in order for the marriage to be legal. There must be a consent to marry (the I do’s), all paper work must be filled out and signed, the civil code must be read, and the intent to marry must be published.
As long as all the components to make the wedding legal are included, the wedding officiant can completely personalize the wedding script. They can make, funny or sentimental, long or short, filled with personal stories of the couple, or even generic. Or any combination thereof.
The wedding officiant’s script is completely customizable and can be completely personalized. As a wedding officiant in Montreal, I always sit down with the couple and make sure that we are creating a ceremony that celebrates their unique love.
