What is the Box Wedding Tradition that my wedding officiant in Montreal suggested?

As a wedding officiant in Montreal, I often get asked what the box ceremony is. Any relationship will have its ups and downs, what matters is what the people do in those situations. The Box Wedding Tradition is meant to be a reminder of the love shared by the people getting married.
How does it work?
Both people write a letter to each other describing their love for each other and what brought them together. The letter is a place where you can express privately all the things said in your vows and much more. The couple also purchases one or more bottles of wine and a wooden box. On the wedding day, the couple places the bottle of wine in the box and they each put their letters in the box. The box is then sealed.
What is the point?
This box is a reminder of your love for each other. If the couple is going through a difficult time during the marriage, both individuals make the time to sit down together and connect with each other. They will open the box together, crack open the bottle of wine, and read each other’s letters. This will give them the opportunity to reconnect and remember the promises they made to each other.
Consider this as one of the traditions you include in your wedding ceremony, remembering one’s love for each other during difficult times can help you overcome them and flourish.
